Here is how our day went...Payton and I dropped Beckam off with Grandma and Papa. It was a bit hard for Payton not to be able to stay at Grandma and Papa's but she knew that we were headed to the Doctor's. We headed up to Primary Children's hospital. Tim was already there and checked Payton in. We got to hang out in the waiting room for just a bit and Payton got to play with the toys, which she LOVED!
We met with the nurse first to do her vitals and get her changed into the cute jammies.
Then we headed to another waiting room and Payton once again got to play with the toys and this cute nurse came and played with Payton. She let her play with a stethoscope, blood pressure, and a anesthesia mask.
She asked if Payton would need a sedative to go with the doctor. We said "no, she is pretty independent and will be fine leaving with the doctor." Then we met with Dr. Grimmer, the Ear, Nose and Throat specialist and then "Arnold" her anesthesiologist. From there she was in her wagon and he wheeled her back to surgery. It is really sad to give your little girl to someone and trust them. And cute Payton is way too trusting. When we got to the corner I knelt down have her a kiss and she said, "bye mommy" then Timmy gave her a kiss and she waved goodbye and said "bye, bye" She went right with the doctor.
They then sent us to another waiting room. This is full of parents just waiting for the doctor to come back to tell them how their child is doing. At 1:30 after 30 minutes of stress, Dr Grimmer came in and let us know they removed her tonsils and her adenoids. He told us that they were really large and that hopefully this will help her with her fevers. I got to go back 20 minutes later. She was still out and they just gave her medicine. She did open her eyes for just a moment and told me she wanted to ride in the wagon. Silly girl! We wheeled her into her room and she woke up for a minute and wanted her daddy. The nurse called the waiting room then daddy got to come in. At this point she was still asleep. Tim went to go grab food since neither of us had eaten since the night before. The nurse was checking her IV which had fallen out at some point and the blood had already clotted. So she decided to see if Payton would drink when she woke up. When Tim got back she was just coming around and had finished a sippy of apple juice. Tim went to get some chocolate milk, Payton's favorite. While he was gone I grabbed one of his fries. Payton said, "I want one" so I gave her one and thought I better ask the nurse if she can have one. The nurse came in and was laughing since Payton was already eating one. She ended up eating all of Tim's fries and then I went and got her some more. She ate chocolate pudding, an orange slushy and chocolate milk...did she really just get her tonsils out? The nurse was amazed!
The next thing she told her nurse is she wanted to ride the car. The cute nurse went and found her one and she rode up and down the hallways. We even stopped to check out the fish tank. We watched Cars ate chicken nuggets and french fries and then took another spin in the car.
This time we ran into Dr Grimmer. He was shocked to see her and to see her doing so well. He said if she was doing this well that she could go home. I guess the nurses were shocked. They told us that Dr Grimmer never let's his patients go home. So we hung out for a little longer and then headed home. We had a great night sleep. Today we have hardly done any medicine and Payton has hardly complained. It makes me feel bad because I often wonder if her throat was this bad and she has learned to live with the pain. Either that or she has a high tolerance for pain like her mom, ha ha! This started 6 months ago and she has had it 6 times. I am hoping we are done with the 105 degree fevers! I hope!
If you ever have to do anything with your kids, which I hope you don't, but...I would definitley take them to Primary Childrens. It is an AMAZING hospital!!

What a trooper!!! We are taking Eva into Primary's on March 30th for tubes, her doctor is Grimmer too.
I'm glad she is doing so well! I had my clinicals in the OR at Primary Children's on Thurs. the 5th. Sad I missed you guys by a week to the exact day. It would've been fun to see you. Sad to see your cute litle one hurting though. But, it sounds like she did well. :) Hope you are all doing good! -Angela-
I am so glad she did so well. We have a history of bad tonsils in our family. She will feel so much better with them out! Get well soon sweetie!
